Are you ready for migration
to online?
Courtesy of
Applied Systems Support technicians, here is a practical �to-do�
list for agencies about to migrate from in-house TAM to TAMOnline�.
-
The night
before migration, execute successful pack and reindex functions
(packing is removing all database items marked for deletion;
reindexing is refreshing the index files for your database).
-
Ensure that
users do not sign into TAM while data configuration is
working
-
Be sure that
accounting is up-to-date (preferred) or within a few months of
current (at worst)
-
Run TAMStart
before migration to verify there are no errors
-
Run TAM 7.1.1
preinstall instructions to be sure all components are in the right
locations
-
Establish
server addresses and passwords for migrating any third-party or
agency.com email accounts to the online system (not necessary, but
helpful)
-
Already be on
TAM 7.1.1, updated all the way (ideal, but not necessary)

Key Agency, Inc., in Englewood, FL, migrated from
hosting TAM in-house to TAMOnline, partly because of the 2004
hurricane season.
�We reviewed our server space earlier this
year and obtained pricing from our Applied Systems rep for a
replacement, as it was that time again,� said Kathleen Russell, Key
office manager and general lines agent. �Our rep mentioned the
TAMOnline solution again. We had previously discussed this option.
So I did a price comparison.�
�It turned out to be a little bit less per
month to have Applied Systems host our data, all things considered,�
Russell said. �And after last summer�s hurricanes, it was an easy
decision to migrate to the online version.�
Last
summer, Russell found herself huddled in a closet late at night
during the weekend when Hurricane Frances churned and struck about
ten miles away. That night, Applied

assisted Russell in restoring files when the agency lost power. At
7:25 the morning after the hurricane, Key Agency�s data was
restored, and the business was ready to operate with TAMOnline.
Appreciating the benefits of the online system, Russell and the

Russell said. �Also, we do not have to pay for a separate online
backup service or worry about a data download in an emergency. Our

connection. It gives us great peace of mind during the storm
season.�

Use TAM�s
Marketing Wizard to identify targeted customers, then place
automated sticky notes into files to remind agency staff to ask for
new business.
Example: Run a
search for insureds who have auto but not home through your agency.
To each file, attach a sticky note with a reminder that the next
time the insured is on the phone, the CSR should ask for insured�s
current homeowner�s policy expiration date. Enter the expiration
date in Activities to prompt a call 90 days in advance. It's
a great
way to increase revenue and customer retention.
