Writeoff Maximums

Product: TAM - Series 6 and Series 7

This document provides instructions for changing the Writeoff Maximums in TAM. There are two types of writeoffs in TAM, Receivables writeoffs and Company Payables writeoffs.

View Writeoff Amounts

In version 7.0.0 and below, TAM allows a maximum writeoff amount. This is global (pertains to all users).

Follow the steps below to view the current maximum writeoff amounts.

Version 7.0.0

  1. Access Utilities
  2. Expand the Accounting folder, expand the Setup folder, and select the GL Setup Report
  3. Click the Arrow
  4. When the report displays, scroll down to view the writeoff amounts.

Version 6.3.0

  1. From Home Base, click Options.
  2. Select The Agency Manager for DOS.
  3. Expand the Utilities Menu.
  4. Expand System Setup.
  5. Execute Accounting Setup.
  6. Select Option 8, Check GL Setup Options.
  7. Answer Yes to proceed, and then [ Page Down] until you see the maximum writeoff amounts.
  8. Press [Esc] and Quit to return to the menu.

Version 6.2.0 and below

  1. Access DOSTAM, UT-6-8 Check GL Setup Options.
  2. Answer Yes to proceed, and then [ Page Down]   until you see the maximum writeoff amounts.
  3. Press [Esc] and Quit to return to the menu.

Note: On Version 7.1.0 and above, there is not a global writeoff amount. There is a writeoff amount pertaining to each usercode. This is set up in Security Manager, per user, on the User Account tab. The writeoff maximums are still viewable under GL Setup Options on 7.1 and can be changed in System Installation as in version 7.0.0 but TAM no longer uses this amount.

Change Writeoff Amounts

Follow the steps below with everyone out of TAM to change the maximum writeoff amounts.

Version 7.1.0 and above

  1. Click Start, Programs, Applied Systems, Utility Manager.
  2. Enter a Usercode and Password with security access to this area.
  3. Expand the System Administrative folder.
  4. Select Security Manager.
  5. Click the arrow.
  6. Select a user. The User Account tab should become prominent.
  7. Enter desired amounts under the Write-Offs box.
  8. Apply the change.

Version 7.0.0

  1. Click Start, Programs, Applied Systems, System Installation. 
  2. Enter the Usercode and Password.
  3. Select Install Write Off Maximums and click Next.
  4. Select Install Receivables Write Off Maximums to change the amount users can write off at customer level, or Install Company Payables Write Off Maximums to change the amount that users can write off from the Reconciliations menu. 
  5. Once the writeoff amount has been updated, click OK to save the changes.

Version 6.3.0 and below

  1. Open an MS_DOS prompt and access your TAM drive.
  2. Type CD\TAM and press [Enter].
  3. Type \NETINFO and press [Enter].
  4. Type SYS_INST and press [Enter].
  5. A red warning displays. Answer Yes to proceed.
  6. Enter the executiveUsercode and Password.
  7. A print box appears. Select Quit.
  8. Access 2-10 Install Write Off Maximums.
  9. Select option 1 Install Receivables Write Off Maximums to change the amount users can write off at customer level, or option 2 Install Company Payables Write Off Maximums to change the amount that users can write off from the Reconciliations menu.
  10. End out of all menus to return to a \TAM prompt, and close the MS_DOS window.

Sign back into TAM. You will be able to enter writeoffs based on the new maximums entered.

Note: On Version 6.3.0 and below, logging into TAM with the executive usercode and password allows the user to override the maximum writeoff.
